Dr. Esther Schmuel

Dr. Esther Schmuel is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine (Perinatology). Dr. Schmuel received her B.A in History, summa cum laude, from Princeton University and her M.D. degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and her Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She was selected as a Chief Resident and was the recipient of several medical student teaching awards. After completion of her training in 2006, she moved back to Los Angeles and was a faculty attending at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She subsequently joined the Obstetrix group of Southern California, and practiced in Laguna Hills, Torrance, and Long Beach until joining Drs. Doany and Mansano.

Dr. Schmuel’s past research was primarily in the area of “fetal programming, “ or the developmental origins of adult disease. Specifically, her work on the influence of a high fat maternal diet on the development of metabolic syndrome in offspring earned her a research award from the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine in 2006. She continues to have an interest in maternal nutrition as well as maternal medical complications such as diabetes and hypertension. Dr. Schmuel lives in Encino with her husband and twin boy and girl. Dr. Schmuel is fluent in Hebrew with a working knowledge of Spanish.
